Dr. Montoya is a medical doctor who specializes in the treatment of psychiatric illness in children, adolescents and adults. She is also trained in psychotherapy and enjoy working with people in that capacity, but her primary focus is in evaluation of psychiatric illness and treatment with medication.
She has lived in Bend since January, 2005 and has had a part-time, small, private practice since October, 2005. Dr. Montoya is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology to practice General (Adult) Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Washington and her medical degree at Creighton University School of Medicine. She did her residency and fellowship training at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, Texas where she worked in a number of settings including University Hospital, The Audie Murphy Veterans Administration Hospital, Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital, The Southwest Neuropsychiatric Institute and Wilford Hall at Lackland Air Force Base.
Moving to Bend is almost like returning home for her as she grew up in Wenatchee, Washington. She is the youngest of 12 children. With her husband she has 1 child and loves living in the beautiful setting of Central Oregon.
