Wendy Friess, MSW, CSWA
(she/ her)
Therapist
Wendy is a Clinical Social Work Associate and Certified Trauma Therapist. She holds dual master’s degrees in teaching and social work. Over the last 17 years, Wendy has worked with youth, both neuro-typical and neuro-diverse, from early childhood through adolescents in a variety of capacities. Therapeutically, Wendy utilizes a trauma-informed, relational, identity-inclusive, strengths-focused approach. She believes that every individual holds the answers and power to their own healing and acts as a guide while they find their way back home to themselves.
Wendy’s theoretical framework when working with clients is based in an early attachment and person-in-environment lens. Wendy believes all behavior makes sense when viewed through these perspectives and works with teens to identify the origins of their patterns while learning more effective strategies for healthy relationships with self and others. Wendy loves her work at The Academy as it allows time to create deep and meaningful change within individuals and their family systems. Wendy has additional training in Brainspotting, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
