Colleen Ahlfs, MAT
(she/ her)
Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher

Colleen (she/her) began her educational journey in upstate NY where she attended Jefferson Community College and received her Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts. She then returned to her home state of Oregon and transferred to OSU-Cascades in Bend where she graduated with her Bachelors of Arts in American Studies with an English minor in June of 2014. Immediately upon graduation Colleen received a large scholarship to attend the Master of Arts: English Language Arts in Teaching graduate program at OSU-Cascades where she graduated in September of 2015. Colleen has since taught at Bend Senior High, the Oregon Youth Challenge Program and the Academy at Sisters in Bend, Oregon.

As a non-traditional student, Colleen feels that she make the greatest impact with youth in an alternative educational setting. She is a first generation college graduate and knows how to succeed despite the hand you are dealt in life. Colleen enjoys using humor and being her authentic self when she teaches and interacts with my students because she fully believes: we teach who we are.

In Colleen’s spare time she likes to read, watch movies, go hiking and exploring the PNW, theater, all things art and cooking new foods. The beach is her mantra and she has a strong wanderlust. In the future, Colleen would love to publish a book of short stories, poems and historical fiction.
