Janice Cummings, BA
Janice (she/her) moved to Bend in 1998 from New England, to pursue her love of the outdoors and snowboarding. It was fate and her desire to work with young people that landed her at The Academy at Sisters in 2000. Over the past two decades, Janice has had many roles at the Academy, including a Resident Monitor, Activities Coordinator (which she still believes to be the best position! Sea kayaking trips…mountain climbing, exploring national parks with a van full of teenagers, doesn’t get much better than that!), Physical Education Coordinator, and Treatment Coordinator. Janice has a deep understanding of the wonderful work our team does with our students and families. Janice has been the Admissions Director since 2017, and her caring and compassion helps families navigate the emotional process of trusting our team to take care of their child while they heal and grow.
Janice graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst prior to moving out West. She currently lives in the mountains on the outskirts of Bend with her husband, twin daughters, and two house cats. When she’s not taking admissions calls, doing tours, or traveling around the country to attend conferences, you can find her hiking, x-country skiing, and driving her daughters to all their soccer games and practices.
